VLC 0.9.0 OS support

25 June 2008

Release

The release of 0.9.0 is closer, and we have many nice stuff to show.

However I have sad news for old OSes:

We are dropping support for:

  • Mac OS X.3 (panther)
  • Windows 98/ME (Windows 2000 is needed now)
  • BeOS

Sorry to tell you that.

Could you please mention the reasons for dropping these old OSes, or at least link to a related webpage? If the problem is the lack of testers, I would be glad to help…

Don’t make me update my os x 10.3.9 for a media library! Just give us one 0.9.0 release and then you can drop us panthers. please? keep up the good work anyway!

Well, it depends on what C++ compiler is on the Haiku.

It seems that Haiku has gcc4, so to me, the port can be updated.

This means dropping Haiku as well?
